| Diabetes is one of the somatic diseases that cause mental health. So, considering the effective factors on diabetic patient's psychological status, the present study evaluates the relationship between life expectancy with general well-being and general health of type 2 diabetic patients. This research was an analytic and cross-sectional study, with sample size of 110 type 2 diabetic patients in Yazd diabetes research center. They were selected by convenience sampling method. Data collection was done through General Health Questionnaire (GHQ), General Well-Being (GWB) and Life Expectancy Questionnaire. SPSS-16 software and descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, Chi-square, T-test and stepwise Regression were used for analyzing data. The analysis of data showed that there was a negative significant correlation between general health with life expectancy and general well-being with life expectancy, too (p<0.01). There was a significant correlation between general health and its sub-scales with general well-being. Also general health sub-scales and general well-being were able to predict life expectancy (p<0.05). The results of this study showed that diabetic type 2 patients have upward stress level that their mental well-being level can increase by decreasing mental disorders and increasing mental health, thus they become hopeful toward future. |
