| چکیده | Background: The skills and attitudes about illness and treatment are among the most basic needs of patients. However, studies have shown that patient education in different countries is not optimal. Adverse consequences of such a situation continue in many aspects of the patient's health. Nurses are the first educators to patients, and are, therefore, better able to identify patients' training needs and try to resolve them. So, the aim of the present review, is to identify barriers to patient education by nurses and health care providers and to focus on views on the importance of identifying and removing obstacles. Methods: This review study has been prepared using library studies and utilizing the latest results of original research papers. Results: The study showed 6 main axes of the inhibiting factors in patient education including: lack of knowledge and skills of the educator, the mismatch between the number of patients and nurses, lack of time and a high density of nursing tasks, inefficient management, lack of training space, Patients' unawareness of their educational rights. Conclusion: According to the studies, it is essential that healthcare administrators adopt strategies to increase nurses' knowledge, the number of nurses and educational spaces, and patients' awareness of their right for education. |
